A tropical fruit with an appearance similar to a
small quince. The fruits have a yellow to green skin and a
white to yellow to pink pulp. Guava has a strong exotic
aroma that lends itself well to tropical essences and
flavors. Guavas are a very rich source of vitamin C and
contain 10 times as much as citrus fruits. Fresh guava has a
short shelf life so ideally guava should be picked and eaten when
ripe.
Guava is used in purified juice, basis for mixed fruits drink
jelly, flavors (for ice-cream sherbet and pastry) fruit foil,
peeled slice pulps, tropical fruit cocktail. |
